Blaze 14U Blue takes 2nd at Panther Pride Tournament

  • Branchburg Blaze's 14U Blue Team had a great run on Elimination Day at the Panther Pride tournament.    Blaze was a 5 seed and had to face off with their local rival Flemington Flames in an epic 5 lead change game.   With Blaze down by a score of 5 - 3, the Blue team put up 3 runs to take a 6 - 5 lead,  they held the Flames in the bottom of the 6th and put 2 insurance runs up in the top of the 7th.  Those runs were crucial as the Flames rallied scoring 2, but Blaze Blue held on for an 8 - 7 victory.

With 1 win in the books Blaze Blue turned its eyes to the #1 seed West Windsor Ninja's.   In what was a very close pitchers dual and both teams combining for a total of 7 hits,  Blue took advantage of a coslty error by the Ninja's putting up a 4 spot in the third inning.   This was enough and once again Blue held on for a 5 - 1 victory.

Game 3 of the day was the championship game against Basking Ridge.  Blaze Blue took an early 1 - 0 lead but Ridge quickly responded with 3 runs of their own.  While Blue faught hard they couldn't overcome and eventually lost the final contest.  Garnering a 2nd place trophy in the process.

    Congratulations to our girls!
