Blaze Red Outlasts Ridge For League Title
Blaze 14U Red took everything that Basking Ridge threw at them and held on for a 2 - 0 victory Wednesday Night to capture the 2016 CJFSL Championships. Blaze was the 1 seed while Ridge was the 2 after a split of the regular season games. The total margin of victory in all three games was 4 runs with Ridge winning the first one 7 - 6 and Blaze winning the next one 6 - 5.
The game was a true pitchers and defensive duel as the game was 0 - 0 through 5 1/2 innings. Blaze reverted to small ball in the 6th inning to break through the scoreless deadlock and held on in the 7th with a 1,2,3 shutdown for the championship.
